Creating a baby registry can be stressful, but there is nothing worse than realizing you put the wrong things on the registry after baby is born and having to return and exchange items while taking care of a newborn! I created this short list of my Must-Have Baby Products to save other moms time and to alleviate the stress that comes with creating a registry.
Because I'm a mom to twin girls I use products x2, and that means I don't have time for poor quality. This list was developed after I made returns and exchanges multiple times until I found products worth the money.
Anne's list of must-have products for your baby registry
1.) Chicco Close To You Bedside Bassinet
This bassinet has everything you need.
It's well-made, it's on sturdy, smooth rollers and comes in a nice neutral color. I ordered three bassinets before landing on this one. It also has a built in changing table, wheel lock mechanism and white noise machine. This is my #1 top baby product because not all bassinets are created equal. This one will have you breathing a sigh of relief, because it's really nice! You can order this on Amazon, I'm also linking sheets made to fit the mattress perfectly (mattress is included).
2.) MUKIN burp cloths
Because we have twins, we deal with a lot of baby barf.
These are extremely soft, long and very absorbent. We also use them under baby's head in the bassinet to stop barf from getting the sheets all wet because they are comfy. These are hands down the best burp cloths I have tried which landed them #2 on my list.
3.) HALO Sleep Sack-
There's a reason people rave about this swaddle that uses Velcro to keep baby bundled tight.
Make sure to add this one with a two-way zipper and bottom zipper for easy changing. These swaddles make bedtime easy and you really can't put a price on that! These are worth the money and that's why they are #3 on my list. I also found a great dupe for you here. Note: You should include sleep sacks in multiple sizes because you will need these as baby grows. Would be nice to have 4-5 in newborn, 0-3 months etc. because baby will have blowouts and you'll need clean ones on hand!
4.) Sweet Bamboo footies-
If this were a baby clothing list, these footies would be my top choice.
Sweet Bamboo's material is high-quality, soft and stretchy so your baby will be able to wear them in between sizes. These were so helpful with twins because they don't always grow at the same rate, but I was able to keep them matching because the stretch allows you to use them longer when baby gains weight. These are hands down my favorite onesie/footie which is why they are one of my top products. Sweet Bamboo also has amazing sales on their social pages where you can get the footies half off or more! Most of ours were on sale for $12 each.
5.) Maydolly changing table-
We have two of these changing tables, one upstairs and one downstairs in our house!
It's a nice size and fits comfortably in our living room for downstairs changes. It has nice pockets in front for diapers and wipes and a bottom shelf for extra storage. It's on rollers and is very high quality. With twins, it's one of our most-used products and we love it.
6.) Baby Bjorn Bouncer-
Many moms will tell you they can't live without this bouncer.
The only reason it's not number one on my list is it's not essential, but it certainly makes life easier. Because you can bounce newborns using your feet, I put the twins in their bouncers while I pump. It lets them move their arms and legs, keeps them entertained and they often fall asleep from the movement. They can bounce themselves in it when they are older. It's a great product!
7.) Boppy or Twin Z pillow-
This pillow is nice because it keeps baby upright after they eat to prevent spit ups.
Not to be confused with a nursing pillow, we use a Twin Z pillow (twin version of a Boppy) on a daily basis to set the babies down or in order to feed both at once. As they are getting older they prefer the bouncer because the pillow is more restrictive which it's why it ranks lower on my list.
8.) Nuna Pippa RX Infant Car Seat & Base-
My number one recommendation when selecting a car seat is to look at the weight (great advice from my SIL).
This car seat is relatively new and is the lowest weight car seat (a little over 8 pounds including insert and canopy) we could find in stock. As a bonus, it's easy to use and looks nice!
9.) Bugaboo Donkey Twin Stroller (available in single & double)
I have the twin double stroller by this brand and it is fantastic!
I had been set on an UPPA Baby (because Instagram), but I was warned that UPPA only makes a twin stroller in tandem and that it is very heavy and hard to assemble. A friend recommended Bugaboo Donkey after her friend got the double stroller for an infant and toddler and gave it rave reviews. The twin stroller is compatible with two infant car seats and has a Nuna Pippa RX adapter. It's very high quality, moves smoothly and is easy to collapse and put in the car. Getting it assembled and figuring it out takes a minute but it's not awful and it's worth it. Love it!
10.) Water Wipes-
These are clean and just a great product, highly recommend.
11.) Huggies Little Snugglers-
I was set on Coterie, but after trying numerous brands this Huggies diaper has been proven to stop blowouts more than the rest!
It was recommended by a best friend and was also used in the NICU at the hospital. You know those NICU nurses know best!
12.) Ubbi Diaper Pail & Bags-
It's one of those items that's not exciting, but totally necessary.
Hides the smell, easy to clean and holds the right amount! The Ubbi bags are strong and don't break, which is important when you are dealing with baby poo!
13.) Motherlove Nipple Cream-
This is a must-have product for me when it comes to pumping.
I use this before putting on the pumping flanges to prevent pinching and pain. This one is organic and lanolin-free which is why it's the only nipple cream I use. Safe for baby! My pump is also a must-have product, but I don't recommend putting a pump on your registry because I know a way you can get your pump for free. Read the article here!
